Hello;

Here's my entry for the eve-online contest. It's a gallente battleship. I wanted her to carry the feeling of gallente ship designs while i was trying to make an original and nice looking ship.

The concept was a flashy imagination in the first moment so i knew what direction i was supposed to go and i knew i wanted to design a ship gives a bit of feeling between brutix and megathron. I made it look like a classy car feeling because gallente's are classy

and i wanted to make it a bit deformed then at that moment i thought 'this actually looks like a shark'.

A space shark diving into the dark waters for searching her prey. Hell yeah i said to myself. Kind of reminded me my pvp days

. So i modified it a little. Megadolon* was the name to give. Still had issues with it since gallente ship names are taken from the greek myth and as a short name "mega" wont do...hehe. But the name supports the silhouette.

I've played eve for a couple of years so yes i was gallente and i can say i really enjoyed with her and the contest itself Because there's a chance to get in on that ship in eve. I guess thats what we call it 'priceless'.

Except the beauty shot all six orthogonal views are done with my hands which was very exhausting XD.

I've made a proxy model to see if my orthogonal views are in proper shape. Then i used that proxy model as a referance to fix any possible distortions in the perspective view.

Oh and ive used photoshop,tablet and maya.

* for who doesnt know megadolon was the biggest shark ever swimmed in the seas in the known history.

wow for once a gallente ship that doesnt look like a frog, guppy, salamander, and or a certain body part. I LIKE IT! lets build shall we?

jaw drops* woah o_o ... speechless for a minute.. WOW o.o it really looks amazing! its like the megathron but so much more awesome!! it has that nice streamlined yet still organic feel to it like the new talos class battlecruiser and the thorax mashed up with the megathron frame and somehow fused the brutix in it too xD and for once it looks symmetrical! if that ship ever existed in eve i would give up trying to get the nyx and just lovehug that ship forever even if it gets overpriced XD great job Akiman!!

I know this is a very late comment, but I just wanted to give my 2c. This is a beautiful design, make no mistake about that. As has been said, beautiful curves, lines and form. I think the only thing that lets it down is it's similarity to the Megathron. Every ship varies wildly from hull to hull in eve, even within ship classes (with the possible exception of current Caldari trends, eg: Rokh, Naga, Drake - Very straight blocky and symmetrical designs, odd when compared with Caldari of the past), but this ship seems to take quite a few design ques from the Megathron. Such as an obvious bridge, nose heavy (although this is a trend for Gallente) and pinched waist with a slightly bulging aft, all very similar to the Megathron.

I say again: this is still a beautiful design and expertly published, there is no denying your talent. I wish I could come up with something of even remotely similar quality. If they do another ship contest (which will probably be a way off yet, considering the quality of submissions in 2010, they could very well put their own concept artists out of work!), you will be in with a great chance I think if you decide to submit a new design. The thing I notice most about EVE ship design is: uniquness is paramount. Especially with Gallente and Minmatar ships.

) and megathron. its like a cadillac version of them. Maybe i should've make it more asymetric and off the grid. But that's not really my type. I'm kinda symetric lover a bit. But you're right.
